NORTH KOREA TO WEAPONIZE URANIUM AND PLUTONIUM
A news report by Jay Todd
North Korea will weaponize uranium and plutonium in protest against the U.N.’s attempt to tighten sanctions, according to the KCNA, the state-run North Korean news agency.
“No matter how hard the U.S.-led hostile forces may try all sorts of isolation and blockade, the DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea), a proud nuclear power, will not flinch from them,” the KCNA said.
The U.N. Security Council unanimously voted 15-0 to tighten sanctions on North Korea on Friday. The vote imposes an embargo on the trade of arms from North Korea. It strengthens provisions already passed in 2006. It also requires states to “exercise vigilance” over trade of lighter weapons.
This all came after North Korea conducted a nuclear test, fired test rockets, and threatened U.S. and South Korean ships near North Korean waters.
Stephen Bosworth, a special representative for North Korean policy, said the nuclear and rocket tests were in response to U.S. aggression. Furthermore, he called President Obama’s special envoy “simply groundless.”
Washington officials have said the U.S.’s goal is for North Korea to return to the nuclear negotiations known as the six-party talks.

The thought of nuclear war is very nerve racking and terrifying. I don’t know very much about nuclear weapons or the damage they an cause, so it makes me all the more scared of them. What I have heard makes it even worse for me. I trully do not see the benefit to creating them, and I really hope that they are never used in my lifetime or ever for that matter. The fact that North Korea is threatening the U.S. proves how bold and ridiculiously crazy they are. Before they know the weight of the world will be upon them, but I hope it does not come down to war. I hope that North Korea is not that stupid, but I hope if it does come down to it that President Obama will know how to handle the situation. I do not envy his position, but I have confidence in him to lead our country through conflicts such as the one we are faced with now.
